North Alabama Lions defeated UC Davis Aggies 79–75 in their men’s college basketball season opener Monday.
Quan Lax scored 19 points off the bench to lead North Alabama. He made 6 of 9 field goals, 1 of 3 three-point attempts and 6 of 8 free throws.

Lax contributed 11 points before halftime, but the Lions trailed 45–36 at the break. He scored the team’s final six points to secure the win.
Michael Evbagharu recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 2 of 4 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. Caden Harris made 3 of 5 three-pointers and finished with 11 points.
Jalen Stokes led UC Davis with 18 points and six rebounds. Isaiah Chappell and Connor Sevilla each added 12 points.
Both teams host Thursday. North Alabama hosts Union (Tenn.) at home. UC Davis hosts Menlo at home.
