Former NBA veteran and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins had to be held back during a heated altercation during his son’s AAU basketball game over the weekend.
Videos footage first published by TMZ shows Perkins lunging at the opposing team’s staff during an argument before being held back.

TMZ reported that the AAU matchup between YPG Perkins and Swaveway Playaz became intense and physical. Perkins reportedly got angry after one of his players was fouled on a non-basketball play.
While it’s unclear exactly who Perkins was angry at and what was actually said, he took to social media on Wednesday to address the incident.
Luckily, the altercation never got physical or escalated past a verbal argument. According to TMZ, off-duty police officers were already at the game and helped to deescalate the situation. Police ultimately determined that no criminal charges were necessary.
Perkins was drafted out of high school by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2003 and was immediately traded to the Boston Celtics, going on to play 14 seasons in the league.
He won a championship with Boston in 2008 and was a mainstay on the early Kevin Durant–Russell Westbrook OKC Thunder squads.
Since retiring in 2018, he’s become a prominent NBA analyst on ESPN.
