The New Orleans Pelicans are hiring former Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley to be the team’s next head coach, per NBA insider Shams Charania.

The move comes after a months-long search following the firing of former head coach Willie Green in November. Assistant coach James Borrego went on to take his place in the interim and coached the Pelicans a 24-46 record the rest of the way.
While he was considered a candidate to stay as head coach, the team has now decided to move forward with Mosley at the wheel.
Mosley spent the last five seasons with the Magic, helping elevate them to playoff team in each of the last three seasons. He was fired earlier this month after the Magic blew a 3-1 lead to the Detroit Pistons in the first round.
According to multiple reports, his job was already in jeopardy before the postseason even began. Over those five seasons under Mosley, the Magic had an overall record of 189-221.
