Today, Siakam spoke about his mindset to the media, heading into a crucial Game 7.

“From experience, from being in these situations before,” Siakam began. “I think just trying to pull from all the experiences in my life and knowing that this is an amazing opportunity and we are at the biggest stage, not taking it for granted, and also just knowing how hard it is to get here.

“And I think for me, just the fact that I can appreciate that makes me just go out there, not get too down on myself when things are going wrong, and not get too excited when things are going well.

“Just understanding that this is the game, it’s basketball, but it’s also life. And sometimes you have good games, and you have bad games.

“And I think just that whole understanding for me just makes me relax and go out there and just do my job, because at the end of the day, that’s what it is.”

Siakam’s mindset is one everyone should have. Not to overthink about the moment, no matter how much rides on this one game.

At the end of the day, Siakam is an NBA champion, winning the title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. Siakam’s mindset and experience may be the difference in Game 7, helping the Pacers capture their first NBA championship.
