Northern Kentucky Norse Beat UTEP Miners 84–76 in Season Opener

Northern Kentucky Norse defeated UTEP Miners 84–76 on Monday in a men’s college basketball season opener for both teams.

Norse forward Willie Foster led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Teammate Noah Pagotto recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Eric Acker shot 6-for-12 from the field and made all four free throws to finish with 16 points.

UTEP forward Youssouf Traore paced the Miners with 18 points and seven rebounds. Guard Donovan Criss scored 13 points, and forward Cam McDaniels added 11.

Northern Kentucky seized the lead for good with 1:02 left in the first half. The Norse held a 42–38 advantage at halftime, with Foster scoring 13 of his 24 points before intermission. NKU outscored UTEP by four points in the second half, and Pagotto contributed 11 of his 19 points after halftime.

According to The Associated Press, the game was Northern Kentucky’s first of the season and UTEP’s first of the season.
