Northern Illinois Beats Dayton 81–76 in Overtime

Northern Illinois defeated Dayton 81–76 in overtime Saturday in Dayton, Ohio.

David Douglas Jr. scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds for Northern Illinois. Max Weisbrod added 19 points, six rebounds and eight assists. He made a three-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 67 and force overtime.

Bennett Basich scored all seven of Northern Illinois’ overtime points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field. He finished with nine points, going 2-for-7 overall, 1-for-3 from three-point range and 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.

Aiden Derkack recorded a double-double for Dayton with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Landen Joseph added 19 points and three steals. Amael L’Etang contributed 16 points, six rebounds and two steals.

According to The Associated Press, Northern Illinois improved to 1–2 on the season. Dayton fell to 1–1.
