The New York Giants have fired head coach Brian Daboll after falling to 2-8 on the season with a 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The team released a statement shortly after the decision was announced.

“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise,” the joint statement reads. “We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.”

Offensive coordinator Mika Kafka will serve as the Giants’ interim head coach.

For the third straight season, New York has gone 2-8 through the first ten games. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart has been a bright spot, but it hasn’t translated into winning football.

Daboll finished his Giants tenure with a record of 20-40-1.
