The Oklahoma City Thunder’s blowout victory in Game 1 has sent a message to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite playing in a Game 7 on Sunday, the Thunder have struck first in the Western Conference Finals.

The Thunder looked poised to show the entire world why they had the best record during the season. After a hard-fought first half where the Timberwolves kept things close, OKC outscored Minnesota 70-40 in the second half, leading them to their 114-88 blowout victory.

The MVP frontrunner, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, led OKC with 31 points and nine assists. He shot 11-14 from the free-throw line.

Julius Randle’s hot play as of late continued in Game 1, as he scored 28 points on 9-13 from the field. Anthony Edwards, on the other hand, struggled, scoring 18 on 5-13 shooting.

Fans call out referees after Thunder’s blowout victory

Fans flocked to social media to express their opinions on the Thunder’s dominant Game 1 performance.

Many fans claimed the referees helped the Thunder win Game 1. If you look at the facts, OKC did attempt more free-throws, but only five more (26-21).

The real problem was shooting. OKC shot 50% from the field and 52.4% from three. Minnesota shot 34.9% from the field and 29.4% from deep.

If the Timberwolves want to steal a game in Oklahoma City, they’ll need to focus on shooting better. Game 2 is Thursday at 8:30 PM EST.
