NBA fans erupt over Doc Rivers’ Hall of Fame induction

ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed the 2026 Naismith Hall of Fame class on Tuesday, with Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers included as one of the inductees. Rivers is being inducted as a head coach, and the news garnered some intense reactions from fans online.

While some fans believe Rivers should be an easy pick to make the cut, many fans see it differently. They believe Rivers’ Hall of Fame resume is weak and relies too heavily on the NBA championship he won with the Boston Celtics in 2008.

That Celtics team featured a lineup of stars including Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen. Rivers has reached the playoffs as a coach 21 times, but has failed to win another championship.
