The NFL world has erupted over the last few weeks after photos emerged showing New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel hugging and interlocking fingers with The Athletic’s NFL insider Dianna Russini at a resort in Arizona. Both of them are currently married.
ESPN’s Ben Strauss wrote on Friday that the league has decided not to investigate Vrabel for his personal conduct in the situation.

“NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league is not reviewing Vrabel’s behavior as part of the league’s personal conduct policy, which states players, coaches and executives are required to avoid ‘conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League,'” Strauss wrote.
When they were first published, the photos immediately went viral online and both Vrabel and Russini laughed off them off as portraying a normal interaction. But later on, New York Times and The Athletic opened an investigation into Russini and her coverage of Vrabel.
Russini reportedly claimed to them that she was on a trip with other people, but failed to provide sufficient evidence that these other vacationers were actually there.
She ultimately resigned from her position less than a week after the photos were published and before The Athletic completed their investigation, still claiming that the interaction was a normal one.
As for Vrabel, it doesn’t appear that he will receive any sort of penalty or punishment from the NFL regarding his behavior with Russini.
