Packers star Micah Parsons provides update on ACL recovery

It’s been just over five months since Green Bay Packers star defensive end Micah Parsons had surgery on his knee to repair a torn ACL.

During the team’s OTAs on Wednesday, Parsons said he’s happy with where he’s at in terms of recovery and that he still has four months to go.

“Just passed my fifth month on May 29th, so extremely happy where we’re at and the direction that I’m going,” Parsons said. “So, obviously, got four more months to go.”

ACL injuries are always something that athletes should be careful and cautious with. Even if Parsons is cleared to play after exactly nine months, that would hold him out until Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This doesn’t factor in other things, like a potential setback. If an obstacle arises or he needs time to ramp up after being cleared, Parsons will likely make his season debut in Week 6 or later.

He’s fresh off a strong debut season for the Packers, following a blockbuster trade away from the Dallas Cowboys. Last season, Parsons recorded 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

“The goal for me is to complete the season — not no relapse — and playoffs and pushing towards a championship,” Parsons said. “The goal isn’t for me to go out there and rehurt myself trying to force myself to get back the first few games. The goal has always been playoffs, and I think we’re all on the same page.”
