The Miami Dolphins have fired head coach Mike McDaniel, according to a team announcement on Thursday.

“I love Mike and want to thank him for his hard work, commitment, and the energy he brought to our organization,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in the statement. “Mike is an incredibly creative football mind whose passion for the game and his players was evident every day. I wish him and his family the best moving forward.”
McDaniel’s firing comes after finishing this season with a 7-10 record. While the Dolphins jumped off to an abysmal 1-6 start, they rallied midseason to win five of their next six matchups. But in the final four games, Miami fizzled out, winning just one of those battles.
Ultimately, McDaniel finished his tenure in Miami with an overall record of 35-33.
While he never led the Dolphins to a Super Bowl, McDaniel is credited for helping them turn the franchise around almost immediately upon his arrival in 2022.
Time will tell if they decide to part ways with their star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as well.
