The Dallas Mavericks haven’t had the most loving relationship with former team owner Mark Cuban ever since he sold his majority share of the franchise. That rocky relationship seemingly became more sour on Tuesday when Cuban said he regrets selling his share to the current ownership group.

“I don’t regret selling,” Cuban said on a new episode of the “Intersections” podcast. “I regret who I sold to. I made a lot of mistakes in the process, and I’ll leave it at that.”

Cuban sold his majority share of the team to the Dumont and Adelson families in December 2023 at a $3.5 billion valuation.

The Mavericks have been in troubled times ever since the move, highlighted by the shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the L.A. Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

They ultimately traded Davis to the Washington Wizards earlier this season after getting very lucky in the draft lottery and drafting Cooper Flagg at No. 1.

Cuban was one of the most involved and outspoken owners during his time in the NBA. His comments shed further light on what’s been a difficult three years for Mavericks fans.

Dallas has already been eliminated from playoff contention this season and will now look towards the upcoming NBA draft.
