The Hawks have fired Fields after three seasons, including two consecutive years where Atlanta missed the NBA playoffs. He was hired on Oct. 2, 2020 as the assistant general manager, but Fields got promoted to the head GM position on June 13, 2022.
Fields, a University of Stanford alum, was a second round pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He played five seasons in the league with the Knicks and Toronto Raptors as a shooting guard/small forward. The former first-team All-Pac-10 selection and NBA All-Rookie Team honoree led the league in games played for the 2011-12 season (66) with the Knicks.
Onsi Saleh got promoted to general manager for Atlanta.
We will see where he ends up, but Fields is no longer with Trae Young and the Hawks.
