The San Antonio Spurs have been down for a while, but will it re-emerge as a power in the Western Conference.
Greg Popovich captured NBA Championships as the Spurs’ head coach in 1999 and 2003 with David Robinson and Tim Duncan, but he also feasted on the success of his big three of Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili for championships in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014. Kawhi Leonard made it the big four for San Antonio in 2011, helping the team win a title in the 2014 season.

Popovich wants to generate that level of success with Victor Webanyama, but he knows the young superstar needs help.
Kevin Durant could be in play for the Boston Celtics, per Nick Wright
San Antonio has Wemby and De’Aaron Fox, but it is one piece away from being special again. Chris Paul, 39, is a good veteran, but he is past his prime. Harrison Barnes is a NBA champion; however, he is better suited to provide quality minutes and energy off the bench. According to Brett Siegel, a national NBA Insider and reporter for Clutch Sports, the Spurs could be in the market to add another star in the offseason. Kevin Durant is the name Siegel brings up, and it would be monumental for San Antonio.
Spurs’ Devin Vassell has come up in early offseason trade conversations with league personnel.
After just trading for De’Aaron Fox, the Spurs will continue to be aggressive in their pursuit of more talent around Victor Wembanyama.
Could this lead them to Kevin Durant? https://t.co/XTWlkO4Mj4

Durant is widely regarded as one of the greatest scorers of our generation. His marksmanship has not started to deteriorate, regardless of him being 36 years old. The two-time NBA champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP is getting it done for the Phoenix Suns, averaging 26.8 points per game. Phoenix is out of the playoff picture, but Durant has juice left in his tank.
The idea of pairing Durant with Wemby and Fox would be box office for the Spurs.
Durant linked up with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green to get titles at Golden State, so teaming up with young stars like Wemby and Fox in San Antonio should not be an issue. It will be interesting to see if the Spurs get Durant.
