The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals matched up on Wednesday, and Javier Baez put on a show in the bottom of the third inning. As he was taking home plate after a fly ball hit by Jake Rogers, Royals catcher Salvador Perez caught the ball and turned to make the tag.
That’s when Baez miraculously avoided Perez’s glove before tapping home plate.

He was initially called out at the plate before the Tigers opted to challenge the call. Upon review, officials realized that Baez avoided the tag and changed the call.
Through seven innings, the magical play remains the only run scored by the Tigers in a gritty 1-1 tie.
