The Milwaukee Brewers started off the new season hot with a dominant 14-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday thanks to a historic pitching performance from Jacob Misiorowski.

Misiorowski set a Brewers Opening Day record with a blistering 11 total strikeouts. At just 23 years of age, Misiorowski is now the youngest pitcher with double-digit strikeouts on opening day since 20-year-old Felix Hernandez in 2007.

His spectacular start to the season is a good sign for the Brewers, who are likely to keep Misiorowski on the mound for years if he continues to play at this level.

On the offensive side, the Brewers took advantage of relatively weak pitching from the White Sox. The strong display of hitting was capped off by a three-run homer by Jake Bauers.

The two teams will match up again on Saturday.
