Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was denied parole on Thursday, less than five years since being involved in a car accident that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog in Las Vegas.

In November 2021, Ruggs was allegedly driving over 125 miles per hour with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. He went on to collide with a car driven by Tintor.

Two years later, he pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. He was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison and will be eligible for parole again in May 2027.

“Not a minute goes by where I don’t think of the pain I caused her family, her friends and the Las Vegas community,” Ruggs said to the Nevada Board of Parole. “I’m a religious person and pray for her family daily.”

At the time of the crash, he was in his second year with the Raiders and was having a solid sophomore season through seven games. The team went on to release him on the day of the crash.

He has since expressed a desire to return to the NFL. As of publication, it is unclear if the league would allow him to return.
