FIFA World Cup 2026

Haiti becomes first nation to be eliminated in 2026 World Cup following 3-0 loss to Brazil

Brazil wins

Brazil breezed past Haiti scoring three first half goals to officially make Haiti the first nation eliminated from the tournament.

Brazil would take advantage of an opportunity in 12th minute to open the scoring.

Raphinha would squeeze shot past Haitian goalkeeper Johny Placide, but it would not count as the offsides flag went up.

But Brazil would not be denied a goal for long.

In the 22nd minute, a chaotic series of events saw clearance attempt ricochet right off Matheus Cunha and in for their first goal of the night.

Cunha wasn’t done for the night, however.

Following a Vinícius Júnior through pass into the box. Cunha would secure himself a brace and put Brazil up two.

Brazil would not be content with just two in the first half.

In the 45+3 minute

Júnior would pick up a beautiful looping pass by Lucas Paquetá, taking it into the box and sliding it under Placide for Brazil’s third.

The Brazilians would take their three-goal advantage into halftime.

Coming out of the half the match remained relatively quiet as Brazil looked to cruise through the back 45 with their three-goal advantage.

Haiti would continue to show tenacity, looking for something to try and claw their way back into this match.

They would get a great opportunity in the 63rd minute.

Alisson Becker would, however, keep the Brazilians up by three after knocking away the attempt on net.

In the 78th, 19-year-old Endrick seemingly had his first World Cup goal of his career, but the offsides flag would quickly end any celebration.

Although Haiti did find offense late in the second half, outshooting Brazil seven to two.

They would not be able to find the back of the net, resulting in a 3-0 win for Brazil as the full-time whistle rang out.

Brazil and Haiti will both play their final group stage matches at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

While they have been eliminated, Haiti will look to possibly pull off a major upset against Morocco to end their tournament strong.

Brazil will look to find their second group stage win against Scotland and possibly secure first place in Group C.
