Golden Knights part ways with Tortorella after Stanley Cup Final run

The Vegas Golden Knights will not retain head coach John Tortorella for the 2026-27 season, the team announced.

Vegas hired Tortorella after firing head coach Bruce Cassidy on March 29 with only eight games remaining. He led the team to a 7-0-1 record in the regular season, and a Stanley Cup Final appearance before losing to Carolina in six games.

The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs are the only two teams with a vacant coaching spot, and are potential landing spots for the veteran coach. Tortorella has been an NHL head coach since 2000, and led the Tampa Bay Lightning to their first Stanley Cup in 2004.

Ryan Craig, the current head coach of the Henderson Silver Knights, is expected to be named head coach, according to David Pagnotta.
