At 3:39 p.m. ESPN FC posted via X that German midfielder Lennart Karl was taken to a hospital following an injury suffered during training.

The 18-year-old is set to play is his first World Cup. During his season with Bayern Munich this year, he saw 1,281 minutes of game time playing in 26 matches and starting 16.
He totaled 10 goal contributions in the 25/26 season, with five goals and five assists on the road to the clubs 35th league title.
Germany has just one friendly remaining, a game against the U.S. Saturday at 2:30 p.m. before their first match of the tournament against Curaçao on June 14.
For the Germans, the loss of a young talent like Karl would force them to scramble just six days removed from the World Cup to find a replacement. No word has come out from the team about the severity of the injury.
