Georgia Bulldogs transfer safety Ja’Marley Riddle was arrested in Georgia last week on two felony drug charges and a misdemeanor speeding charge, according to police records.

Officers say they saw Riddle speeding and driving recklessly on Interstate 95 last Friday afternoon. After pulling him over, police reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming out of the car, prompting them to ask Riddle to step out of the vehicle.

The report states that Riddle was polite and cooperative throughout the process. Upon searching the vehicle, officers say they found packages containing a “leafy substance stating marijuana, and some containing vapes stating THC.”

Riddle was then placed under arrest and sent to the Glynn County Detention Center. He is now being charged with purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana, sale of a schedule I or II controlled substance and speeding.

He ultimately posted bond for all three charges and was released.

“We are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information,” a Georgia spokesman told ESPN. “As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time.”

As a junior transferring in from Eastern Carolina, Riddle earned first-team All-AAC honors in 2025 after recording 70 tackles, four tackles for loss and three interceptions.

His arrest is the latest in a long history of arrests and legal troubles from Bulldogs players over the years. He’s been limited in spring practices due to a lingering leg injury and it’s now unclear what his future on the team looks like.
