East Carolina defeated South Carolina Upstate 83–70 on Monday night in its men’s college basketball season opener.

East Carolina Pirates defeated South Carolina Upstate Spartans 83–70 on Monday night in their men's college basketball season opener.

Pirates forward Kaseem Watson led all scorers with 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Guard Cian Medley recorded 14 points and 11 assists. Guard Brycen Blaine added 14 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field and making three 3-pointers.
