Duke University officially sued quarterback Darian Mensah on Tuesday, seeking a restraining order that would prevent Mensah from entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Mensah had originally announced his return to the Blue Devils a month ago, but informed the school on Friday that he was entering the transfer portal.

Duke contends that the NIL deal with Mensah prohibits him from entering the transfer portal and changing schools.

The school has reportedly filed a claim for arbitration to settle the matter.

Mensah led the Blue Devils to the ACC title and a 9-5 finish this past season while being regarded as the top quarterback in the conference. He finished the season with 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 66.8%.

The newest lawsuit is another reflection of the growing transfer portal issues currently encasing the college sports world.
