After the Sacramento Kings lost to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Draymond Green called out the Kings and the rest of the league for tanking while criticizing the NBA for not doing enough to stop it.
“I saw a team tonight foul Seth Curry with three minutes to go in a game for no reason. In the penalty,” Green said.
He later spoke on tanking in the NBA as a whole, calling out the league for not doing enough to punish teams that are intentionally losing games.
“I get fined when I do wrong. Just fine the hell out of people. We love taking money from players. Keep fining the teams… If it was players they would have snatched that money in a heartbeat. Why isn’t it the same? We know exactly what to do when someone gets a technical foul. Suspended for a game. We know exactly what to do. All the sudden we have teams with issues and we don’t know what to do.”
The two teams Green was referring to are the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers. Both of those teams were fined in February for tanking behavior.
With just a few games to go in the regular season and a stacked draft class on the way, Green is urging the league to do more to stop teams from cheating the game.
