Dodgers place Blake Snell on injured list after late scratch

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell is now the newest pitcher to land on the injured list after being a late scratch before Friday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Dodgers announced that he was placed on the IL due to loose bodies in his left elbow.

The move will reportedly be retroactive and the 33-year-old is scheduled to come off the IL on May 12.

Snell has dealt with significant injury troubles as of late, Friday’s matchup was going to be his second game of the season after making his season debut on Saturday. He spent the first portion of the season on the IL due to left shoulder fatigue.

As a two-time Cy Young winner, Snell is a proven star that had a strong outing in the 2025 postseason. He recorded 41 strikeouts in 34 innings as he helped the Dodgers win their second consecutive World Series.

He must now spend more time rehabbing in order to truly get healthy for this season.

Friday’s matchup will now be a bullpen game for the Dodgers as reliever Will Klein is expected to pitch first.
