Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Greenland has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit, officials announced Thursday. He was 24.
Frisco police says Greenland was involved in a vehicular pursuit on Wednesday night where troopers temporarily lost sight of his vehicle. Officers eventually found his abandoned vehicle and later found Greenland dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Cowboys released a statement confirming his death.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Kneeland was Dallas’ 2024 second round pick and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery during his final game on Monday against the Arizona Cardinals.
