Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier scored three goals Tuesday as the Ducks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5–4 at Rogers Arena.

Gauthier’s goals included two on the power play. Anaheim went 3-for-3 with the man advantage and has scored 10 power-play goals on 12 opportunities over its last three games. The Ducks entered the contest with the NHL’s second-best power-play percentage at 34%, trailing only the Utah Mammoth.

Mikael Granlund opened the scoring on a power-play goal just over four minutes into the first period. Vancouver responded two minutes later on a man-advantage goal by Liam Ohgren, assisted by Marco Rossi. Gauthier put Anaheim ahead 2–1 at 17:07 of the first period on the Ducks’ second power play. Leo Carlsson added a short-handed goal, and Beckett Sennecke recorded four assists.

Gauthier also scored three goals in Anaheim’s 6–3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. He is the first Ducks player with hat tricks in consecutive games. The 22-year-old American has eight goals in his last three contests after recording none in his previous nine.

Vancouver’s Jake DeBrusk scored twice — once while Gauthier was in the penalty box — to bring the Canucks within one goal at 5–3. Linus Karlsson scored Vancouver’s other goal. Elias Pettersson recorded two assists. Kevin Lankinen made 17 saves for the Canucks. Laurent Brossoit stopped 19 shots for Anaheim.

The Ducks play at the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. The Canucks travel to face the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.
