Molly Joyce scored 12 points, and the South Dakota Coyotes beat the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros 68-56 on Friday at Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
South Dakota won the third quarter 19-8 and led by as many as 12 points. The game had 12 lead changes and 9 ties. UT Rio Grande Valley put together a 12-0 run in the first quarter.

Latazia Williamson had 11 points and 9 rebounds, and Bri Robinson had 11 points for the Coyotes.
Janette Aarnio led UT Rio Grande Valley with 16 points. Kamryn McLaurin scored 15.
South Dakota shot 45% from the field, made 6 of 16 3-pointers and outrebounded the Vaqueros 33-25.
The Coyotes moved to 2-0. The Vaqueros dropped to 1-1.
The Coyotes sit first in the Summit and have won two straight. The Vaqueros sit first in the Southland. UT Rio Grande Valley is 1-0 at home and 0-1 on the road.
