New Mexico State Aggies senior guard Emma Christiano and Northwestern State Lady Demons junior guard Karma Wynn each scored layups in their own basket Friday — Christiano in New Mexico State’s 64–63 win over Southern Utah Thunderbirds, Wynn in Northwestern State’s 89–59 loss to Arkansas Razorbacks.
Christiano’s error occurred with 20 seconds left in the New Mexico State–Southern Utah game. The Aggies trailed by one point when she stole an inbounds pass and drove for a layup — which went through Southern Utah’s basket. The play-by-play announcer declared, “Aggies lead!” but Southern Utah led by three after the basket.

New Mexico State freshman forward Stacy Chovino scored the game’s final two baskets, including a layup into the correct basket with two seconds remaining, lifting the Aggies to a 64–63 victory.
About an hour earlier, in Northwestern State’s game against Arkansas, Wynn received a pass beneath her own basket and converted a layup into Northwestern State’s hoop, giving Arkansas two points and a six-point lead. The Lady Demons lost 89–59.
