The Columbus Blue Jackets and forward Charlie Coyle have agreed to a six-year contract extension worth $36 million. The contract extends through the 2031-32 season.

Coyle was traded to the Blue Jackets on June 27, 2025, from the Colorado Avalanche. He played all 82 games, recording 20 goals and 38 assists in his first season with the team. He has all played in 411 consecutive games.

The Blue Jackets are Coyle’s fourth team in his career. Before the Avalanche, he spent time with the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild. He helped the Bruins to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2019, recording 16 points in 24 games.

Coyle was a part of a Blue Jackets team that fell just short of the playoffs. They finished the 2025-26 season with 92 points, six points shy of a playoff appearance. The franchise has not made the playoffs since 2019-20.
