Breaking: Capitals acquire Alex Tuch

The Washington Capitals have acquired winger Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres in a sign-and-trade. Along with the trade, the Capitals have signed Tuch to an eight-year, $10.5 million extension.

Tuch, 30, recorded 33 goals and 66 points for Buffalo last season, along with 7 points in 13 playoff games. He brings great skating and size to the wing of Washington and was viewed by many as the top unrestricted free agent remaining.

The trade comes just a day after the acquisition of Jordan Kyrou, giving Washington another option on the wing as the future of Alex Ovechkin remains unclear.
