Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain suffered during Thursday’s game. Zack Gelof has been called up to replace Rooker.

Rooker sustained his injury after fouling off a pitch during Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees. Despite being placed on the 10-day injured list, it may take longer for Rooker to recover.
Losing Rooker is a tough blow for the A’s. He has played in over 200 consecutive contests, with his last missed game being Aug. 15, 2024.
So far this season, Rooker was batting .146 with eight RBIs and two home runs.
