The San Jose Sharks announced a 5-year extension for forward Kiefer Sherwood. Sherwood was acquired via trade back on Jan. 19.
Sherwood has only played five games with the Sharks so far this season due to injuries and the Olympic break. He has one goal and one assist. However, the right winger is an enforcer up front with 238 hits on the season, which is second in the league.
It seems that the Sharks’ rebuild is going to plan. The team drafted superstar Macklin Celebrini first overall in the 2024 draft, and he currently has the team three points out of the final playoff spot. The Sharks have not made the playoffs since the 2018-19 season, losing in the Conference Finals to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues.
