Artemi Panarin

BREAKING: Rangers trade Artemi Panarin to the Kings

Stan Szeto -- IMAGN IMAGES

The Rangers traded Artemi Panarin to the Kings for prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional third-round pick. The pick can become a second-round pick if the Kings win a playoff series, and an additional 2028 fourth-round pick will be added if the Kings win a second series. Panarin also waived his no-move clause with the Rangers to accept a trade to the Kings.

The Kings were the only team that Panarin expressed his desire to go to. General manager Chris Drury announced to Panarin back on Jan. 16 that the team would not be offering him a contract extension with his set to expire in this offseason. Following the trade, Panarin signed a two-year $22 million dollar contract with the Kings.

Panarin led the Rangers 57 points this season. He had 607 points with the Rangers over the past seven seasons, which is the ninth most in the team’s history.

Panarin has not played the last three games for the Rangers, as the team sat him in order to prepare for a roster move. There will likely be more trades to come for the Rangers as the team is looking to start a rebuilding process.

Greentree was the 26th overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft. He has 23 goals and 45 assists in 34 games this season for the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL.
