The Phoenix Suns have pulled the trigger, trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

Durant’s tenure in Phoenix did not go the way he intended. Now, he’ll start over again, this time on a young and hungry Rockets team.

In the deal, the Suns traded Durant for the young and talented star, Jalen Green. Phoenix will also receive Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, and five second-round picks. The trade won’t be officially completed until July 6, when the new year of the league begins.

Phoenix plans for future, Rockets look to win now

The Suns found themselves in a tough spot after adding Durant and Bradley Beal to the roster, as they gave up most of their near-future draft picks. Also, with Beal having a no-trade clause in his contract, and Beal coming off a poor season, they may be stuck with him.

Adding Green, along with the draft picks, not only helps the Suns plan for the future but also boosts their chances of becoming a playoff contender next year.

The Rockets finished the season winning 52 games, which was second in the Western Conference. Now, with the addition of Durant, Houston very well could become the favorite to win it all next season.
