The Michigan Wolverines are firing head coach Sherrone Moore for cause, alleging that he was in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member.
“Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” athletic director Warde Manuel said in the statement. “This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Associate head coach Biff Poggi has been named interim coach, effective immediately.
Moore has yet to address the firing or the allegations publicly.
The Wolverines finished this season with a 9-3 record and are scheduled to face Texas in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
