Long-time NHL center Jonathan Toews has officially announced his retirement after 16 seasons and more than 1,100 career games. Toews spent his final season with his hometown team, the Winnipeg Jets.

Over the course of 15 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toews put together quite a resume. He won three Stanley Cups, the Conn Smythe and Frank J. Selke Trophy, as well as the Mark Messier Leadership Award. He also won Olympic gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games for Canada, scoring in both championship games.

However, health issues plagued Toews during his final few years in Chicago. He missed the 2020-21 season due to chronic immune response syndrome and sat out for two months in 2021-22 due to long COVID. Toews eventually came back for the 2022-23 season, however, he then sat out the next two seasons to get healthy. He joined the Jets for the 2025-26 season, playing in all 82 games and scoring 11 goals and 18 assists.

The future hall-of-famer finished with 383 goals and 529 assists across 1,149 career regular season games.
