Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza has officially won the 2025 Heisman Trophy. He is the first player in Hoosiers history to win the award.
Mendoza’s 2025 season was historic, leading Indiana to a perfect 13-0 record, the Big Ten Championship win over Ohio State and the top spot in the 2025 CFP.
“I’m at a loss of words. Thank you to everybody. First, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to chase a dream that once felt a world away,” Mendoza said after taking the stage. “Standing here tonight and holding this bad boy, representing Indiana University, still doesn’t feel real.”
He finished the season with 2,980 passing yards to go along with 33 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.
His competition was fierce, beating out Ohio State QB Julian Sayin, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia and Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love.
The 22-year old will now lead the Hoosiers into the CFP with the 91st Heisman Trophy in his hands.
