The Atlanta Falcons have picked up the fifth-year option on star RB Bijan Robinson. He is still expected to get an extension this offseason.
Robinson has emerged as the star player for the Falcons’ offense. He finished fourth in the league last season with 1,478 rushing yards and led the league with 2,298 scrimmage yards. He also earned his first-ever first-team All-Pro honor.
Robinson is now expected to have an even bigger role this upcoming season. The team let Tyler Allgeier walk this offseason, and he eventually signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Allgeier took away from some of Robinson’s production, but Robinson still secured the RB1 spot on the roster. The team also signed veteran RB Brian Robinson Jr. this offseason as a potential replacement to Allgeier; however, his role is still unknown.
With a contract extension still looming, it seems the Falcons have secured their star player of the future. The 2023 first-round pick out of Texas has 805 carries for 3,910 rushing yards and 34 total touchdowns.
