The Arizona Cardinals have informed their star quarterback, Kyler Murray, that they plan to release him on Wednesday, March 11, barring a trade. Murray was the Cardinals’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft.
The former Oklahoma Sooners star spent seven seasons with the Cardinals, putting up a 38-48-1 record and one playoff appearance. He missed most of the 2025-26 season with an injury, with his last game being on Oct. 5.
The Cardinals seem to be going in a complete rebuild. The team hired Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as their new head coach back in February. The team also hold the No. 3 overall pick in this years draft.
Murray should get interest from plenty of teams, once he hits the market. Teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers are all top contenders to land Murray.
