Braden Montgomery hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th to secure a White Sox 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Tonight’s start for Montgomery marked his first game in the major leagues, going 2-5 at the dish with 3 RBIs, a run, two strikeouts and a home run.

This game already had some talking points before Montgomery’s extra innings heroics as Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. would leave the game in the top of the fourth after coming up limp trying to beat out a play at first.

Montgomery would record his first MLB knock in the bottom of that same inning, a base hit single into left field. Cashing in his first RBI as well.

The game would reach extras after neither team was able to score in the final two innings of the game, knotted at four a piece.

A Mauricio Dubón double put the Braves up 5-4 in the top of the 10th.

A Jacob Gonzalez strikeout and a Chase Meidroth ground out saw the rookie in his debut climb into the box with two down, tying run on third.

On a 1-0 count, Montgomery took a changeup at the knees and drove it to the opposite way. The youngster put just enough on it to drop it into the White Sox bullpen for a two-run walk-off home run.

The White Sox continue to surprise everyone, with this win over the Braves being no exception. Southsiders of the Windy City may finally have a team that is ready for October.
