It is unarguably the most legendary franchise in the National Basketball Association, but now it has new ownership.
A record-breaking move sent shockwaves through the NBA on Thursday as the Boston Celtics were purchased for a $6.1 billion valuation. According to Shams Charania, a NBA Senior insider for ESPN, Bill Chisholm opened up his pockets for the 18-time league champion. Chisholm, a managing partner at Symphony Technology Group, has a brand that had $10 billion of assets under management since March 2023.

This is the largest sale of a sports franchise in North America as Chisholm grabbed the Celtics from the Grousbeck family.
STG is a company based out of Menlo Park, Calif., and founded in 2002.

The Grousbeck’s purchased the Celtics for $360 million in 2002.

Boston captured its 18th NBA title in the 2023-24 season with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
It will be interesting to see the vision that Chisholm has as the new owner.
