Bam Adebayo made history tonight against the Washington Wizards. He exploded for 31 points in the first quarter, setting the Miami Heat’s franchise record for the most points scored in a single quarter.

Adebayo wasn’t done there.

He continued to dominate the Wizards, dropping 12 more in the second quarter, followed by 19 more in the third.

After three quarters, Adebayo had recorded 62 points as the Heat led 113-97. The only question that remained was how long Head Coach Erik Spoelstra would let him play in the final quarter.

We got that answer.

Adebayo played 10 minutes, as everyone in the building was pulling for Adebayo to make history.

He would do just that.

Adebayo not only set a franchise record for points, but he also passed the legendary Kobe Bryant for the second-most points scored in an NBA game. The Heat big man dropped 83 points on an incredible 20-43 shooting, 7-22 from three, and 36-43 from the free throw line.

Oh, and the Heat won 150-129.

While Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game remains untouched atop the record books, Adebayo’s 83-point explosion instantly joined basketball immortality. It wasn’t just a career night, it was a performance that will be remembered for generations.

Adebayo’s name will now forever be linked alongside Bryant and Chamberlain in the most exclusive scoring club the NBA has ever known.
