Charleston Cougars Open Season With 111–55 Win Over Southern Wesleyan

Charleston Cougars defeated Southern Wesleyan Warriors 111–55 in their men’s college basketball season opener on Monday.

The College of Charleston Cougars men's basketball team opened the 2026–27 season with a 111–55 home win over the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors on Monday.

Cougars guard Eli Ellis led all scorers with 16 points. He made 6 of 8 field-goal attempts and 4 of 5 three-point shots.

Forward Xavier Abreu added 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and missed all three of his three-point tries. Guard Ben Bradford scored 12 points, hitting 5 of 9 field goals and 2 of 6 threes.

Southern Wesleyan guard Isaiah Smith paced the Warriors with 11 points. Guard RJ Lacossade scored nine points, and forward Zion Dixon added six.

The Cougars host Newberry on Friday.
