With his brace against Iraq on Monday. Kylian Mbappé now sits in second place for all-time goals at the World Cup.

He’s currently tied with former all-time leader Miroslav Klose and just two goals back of current leader, Lionel Messi.

In the 14th minute Mbappé would put France up 1-0 and they’d never look back.

In the 26th minute, Iraq would suffer another blow.

Captain Aymen Hussein would be subbed off, showing visible discomfort on his face.

Ali Al-Hamadi would come in on place of the Iraqi captain.

Rain had been falling from the early onset of the match. But at some point, around the 35th minute, the rain severely worsened.

The rain would continue to fall heavily as the first half came to an end.

However, due to severe weather in the area. A weather delay was put into place.

The delay would last over two hours, seeing the match start again at 8 p.m.

Regardless of the delay, in the 54th minute, a massive mistake by Iraq in their back line saw Ousmane Dembélé play a pass selflessly to Mbappé who easily buried home the strike.

And the French onslaught would just keep coming.

In the 65th minute, Dembélé was rewarded for his earlier selflessness with a goal of his own and the first in his World Cup career.

In the 75th minute, Al-Hamadi had the best chance of the night for Iraq.

On a run into the box, Al-Hamadi received a looping pass, looking to strike it at the back end of its arc.

He would get a piece of the ball, but could not keep it on target, watching it miss wide right.

France would take the contest convincingly by a final score of 3-0.

France and Iraq will both play their final group stage matches on Friday at 3 p.m.

With this win, France has secured their spot in the round of 32 and will look to win the group against Norway.

Iraq is set to match up against Senegal, which at this point is a must win for Iraq and possibly Senegal as well depending on how their match with Norway concludes.
