Ghana and Panama would be stuck in a 95-minute stalemate, with neither side being able to strike home a go-ahead goal.
With just a minute left in stoppage-time, it seemed this match would be the second of this year’s World Cup to end 0-0.

That was until Ghana’s Brandon Thomas-Asante sent a cross into the box in the 90+5 minute.
On the other end, Caleb Yirenkyi would meet the pass in the box, tapping it in for a heroic late game winner.
The late stoppage time goal secured Ghana an incredibly important three points.
Due to this year’s expanded tournament, eight teams who finish third in their respective groups will be moved through into the knockout stages.
This will be determined firstly by points and then by goal differential if there is a tie.
Due to Ghana sharing a group with World Cup hopefuls England and 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia, it may be hard for them to secure the first or second place needed to advance.
With this win, Ghana has tremendously improved their chances of making it out of the group stage, especially if they can find a draw against England or Croatia.
