The Kansas City Chiefs held their yearly OTAs this week, with the most notable player absent being wide receiver Rashee Rice.
Rice was sent to jail last week after testing positive for marijuana, a violation of the parole he received for his role in a 2024 multi-car accident in Dallas.

He was initially sentenced to 30 days in jail, but his five-year probation condition allowed him to decide when to serve his jail time. Since he was found in violation of parole, he was ordered to serve the time now.
Additionally, Rice had a cleanup surgery on his right knee just before being sent to jail, something he’s expected to recover from by the time next season begins.
“We’re aware of the situation, and we’ve talked to the league,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Thursday. “There’s been no talk about anything further [as far as possible punishment from the NFL]. We’re moving forward. When he gets back, we’ve got to get him caught up and doing what he needs to do.”
Rice was suspended for six games last season as punishment from the league for the crash. Reid said on Thursday that he expects the receiver to learn from his mistakes.
“It’s not an easy thing he’s going through. Life lessons are important, but we’re all given chances to learn. He’s in that position now.”
