Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur addresses Aaron Rodgers rumors

While NFL free agency has been eventful so far, one situation has been defined by silence. Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers is reportedly still undecided on his NFL future, despite several deadlines for a decision set by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Amid the uncertainty, the Arizona Cardinals have been rumored as a possible destination for Rodgers, should he decide he wants to play elsewhere.

This is partially due to a social media post made by Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, who made his stance clear.

“Come on we waiting on you,” Bourne wrote on Tuesday.

When it comes to the QB room, the Cardinals already have numbers with Jacoby BrissettGardner MinshewKedon Slovis and third-round draft pick Carson Beck.

It wasn’t long after Bourne’s post was made that Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur addressed this speculation.

“Honestly, right now, we’re focused on the guys that we’ve got coming in,” LaFleur said while making an appearance on The Jim Rome Show. “We’ve got the unit that we have — Gardner, Jacoby and Slovis — and then we drafted Carson Beck in the third round. We’ve got a room we are excited to work with, and that’s solely where my focus is.”

While he didn’t give any validity to the rumors about adding the 4-time MVP, he certainly didn’t close the door completely either.

As of right now we can only speculate, but Bourne clearly believes Rodgers would be an upgrade over the quarterbacks the Cardinals have currently.
