Matthew Stafford has been announced as the 2025-26 NFL MVP, making it the first time in his 17-year career that he has won the award.

Stafford finished as the league leader in passing yards and touchdowns, finishing with 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns. He led the Rams to a 12-5 record and an NFC Championship appearance. Stafford and the Rams were also the highest scoring offense in the league with 30.5 points per game.

Stafford kept the momentum going in the playoffs, throwing for 936 yards and six touchdowns in three games. The team fell one game short of the Super Bowl, losing 31-27 to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship.

Stafford was also the eighth quarterback in NFL history to throw for 4,500 yards and 45 touchdowns in a season. Stafford had a 5.8 touchdown to interception ratio, which led the NFL. He also went eight games without throwing an interception in the middle of the season. During that stretch, he threw for 28 touchdowns, which is the longest streak by any player since at least 1978.
